Robbie and Jill Mathis

Senior Pastor

Pastors Robbie and Jill have been married since August 1996. They have 3 children: Bennett, Malachi, and Kara. They are the founders and Senior Pastors of Freedom Tabernacle since its inception in 2000. Prior to founding Freedom Tabernacle, Pastor Robbie served as the pastor of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church from 1996-2000. As natives of Forsyth County, this couple feels a strong calling to minister to and unite the Body of Christ within the North Georgia region. Their service to this community extends beyond the church as Robbie served as a teacher at Otwell Middle School from 1994-2004 while Jill still serves as a physical therapist at Champion PT, located in Cumming, Georgia. Pastor Robbie has an Associate's Degree, a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Education, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education. Robbie and Jill have a passion to see lives transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. They have led marriage classes and conferences and Robbie has preached in various churches within and beyond the country, including Cuba, Canada, and Nicaragua. Robbie and Jill have a love for people of all ages and enjoy witnessing people encounter the love of Jesus. This loving and caring couple states, “God has truly blessed us and we are so humbled that God has called us for this purpose!” 

Jonathan and Kerry Bennett

Executive Pastor and Children's Pastor

Pastors Jonathan and Kerry Bennett were married in August 2000. They have three children, all boys, Peyton, Micah, and Jacob. They have been members since May of 2001. They started the children’s ministry in October 2001 and Pastor Kerry serves as the lead pastor in the ministry. They have both served in a variety of ways in this community and have a great desire to make a positive impact in this local community where they have lived all of their lives. Pastor Jonathan has an Associate’s Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He has served in this community for the City of Cumming, taught for Horizon Christian Academy, and also served on the Horizon Christian School board. He became full-time at the church in 2005 and currently serves as the executive pastor where he oversees the ministries, facilities, and various operations  alongside Pastor Robbie Mathis. His wife, Kerry attended the University of Georgia studying in speech therapy. Jonathan and Kerry are thankful for the opportunity to be able to serve at Freedom Tabernacle, as they fulfill one of their greatest desires in “loving people no matter their age, and sharing with them the love of Christ and the Hope we all find in Him”. 

Tony and Shelly Morrow

Associate Pastors

Pastors Tony and Shelly Morrow were married in September of 2003. They have 5 sons: Brandon, Dalton, Brady, Matthew and Levi. They are also blessed with beautiful daughters by marriage, and 13 precious grandchildren. They joined Freedom Tabernacle in 2013. They both have served in ministry for over 20 years in several different capacities, and each have an Associate of Biblical Studies from Southwest Bible College and Seminary. It is their desire to serve the Lord with all their hearts. They have a passion for seeing people who have been through abuse, trauma, and those living in bondage, to be set free though the power of the Holy Spirit and to lead them to take their rightful place as joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Tony and Shelly both feel blessed to be a part of the Freedom Tabernacle leadership team.

Michael and Abby Carroll

Youth Pastors

Pastors Michael and Abby Carroll have been married since October 2011 and have three children: Jeremiah, Nathaniel, and Selah. Michael has a successful career at Atlanta Gas Light, and Abby owns her own freelance art business. They have worked in youth ministry together since 2009 and have a passion for seeing middle and high school students turn their hearts toward Jesus. Michael was ordained into the ministry in 2017, and both he and Abby have a diploma of Biblical Theology from Kineo Ministry Training Center. Michael served as Worship Pastor at Christ Fellowship Church for 3 years while he and Abby also volunteered as youth leaders for ReGeneration Youth Church. They are so excited for the opportunity to run alongside the leadership here at Freedom Tabernacle and fulfill the call they believe God has placed on their lives to help teenagers encounter the Living God!

Chris Lively

Worship Leader

Chris is a native of Forsyth County and singing has been a part of her whole life and past generations. She has served faithfully on the worship ministry team since 2003, and in 2014 she was chosen to serve in the role of worship team leader. Chris has been walking God’s path in recovery from addiction, celebrating over 14 years of Sobriety and helping others know and learn there is a way out. Because of this freedom that Chris has experienced, she has been leading a Recovery small group since 2005, which started with Celebrate Recovery and currently is Overcoming Obstacles. She and her husband Scott have 6 children: Jessica, Jacob, Austin, Mallory, Brady, and Leah. Chris declares, “I thank God He has saved me, redeemed me, has given me a new life and has put a song in my heart”. 

Sharon Delay

Church Secretary

Sharon DeLay and her husband, David, have been married for over 35 years and have 5 children and 14 grandchildren. They have been members of Freedom Tabernacle since 2004. Sharon has over 35 years of experience in accounting as well as serving as an executive administrative assistant for many years. After retiring from Cornerstone Medical, with 18 years of service, she was asked in November 2011 to serve as secretary and bookkeeper for Freedom Tabernacle. She serves faithfully in this position while she and David lead and serve in other various ministries.
